1893-s Silver dollar on E-Bay

HiBuckyHiBucky Posts: 621 ✭✭✭

Just a question.. This looks like a cheap PCGS slab and I am not saying anything bad but the other 1893-S above it looks different and better made. I am no expert in PCGS slab development history just looking for an education. Why the difference?

What specifically are you looking at. They look fine to me.

    Printing in the top one?

The tops one looks cheap, nothing else.

Well, the 2 labels are diffidently different. Font/printing?....maybe. The fading blue color of the label........a generational thing? I don't know. The seller looks legit.

Plus there seems to be a crease in the label here.

I'm not an expert but it seems to be just a newer generation with the fade label on the bottom one.

The font on the second one shows a different label. That's all I'm saying. I don't know enough about the technical aspects to comment either way.

Notice that the date on the middle one is visually farther from the top left edge of the slab.

The statement in the auction description below and just the one picture would dissuade me from a $12K purchase:

This type of auction is not allowed. I think this violates the $2500 rule also. Both sides of the coin must be shown. You cannot show one coin and then send the buyer a different one.

I immediately leave an auction site that states, "stock photos only" and do not return to that seller, even if it was only a $5 coin. But then that's me.

The labels look OK to me... However, as stated above, the description would have me moving on immediately. Cheers, RickO

That should be the buyer's choice if there are 3 available and not the seller's; esp. for that kind of money.
