Defective Planchet from 1795 1/2c

I thought this was PMD but came back DP. I suppose this is one of the earliest mint errors :-)

unlikely to carry a premium due to the defect but i do like that chocolate color.
Mint error and desirable are two different things. Think of the countless war nickels with laminations that always trade for a discount as they are defective. Also funny when on key dates these defects hurt more as the people who are willing to pay up want perfection (for the grade) typically.
For an error to pop it needs a combo of rarity and eye appeal.

No premium. Fortunately it has a clear date and is a 1795 which means there will always be a market for it from budget collectors.
I agree with @291fifth ... The date will carry it as desirable, no premium for the planchet defect. Cheers, RickO
