When do scratches really count in getting a straight or detail grade, like this 1916 DDO buffalo 5C?

Take a look at this bufalo nickel, should it have been a straight graded coin or a details grade

i kinda understand why coins like this get a straight grade, hopefully netted 1-3 pts depending on severity and i agree with doing so.
Key date coins seem to get a very generous break when it comes to stuff like this.
If this is a Good06 then I'm assuming an AG or even a Good04 would be lacking a date altogether.
If it were a GTG, I would have guessed 'details'..... Cheers, RickO
Correct, doesn’t look bad for a 6

I'd expect a small coin with that much wear to have all kinds of wounds in it.
I have no problem with the grade.
But it would be nice to see the doubling clearly, as it is unbelievable!

yes would have been nice for the date to be a bit clearer, espcially on the 6
but overall a nice coin IMO.

Here's my representative of the variety. I wouldn't want one with a weaker date than this one-
Here's one that's on ebay right now. It's an excellent example but it's way overpriced. The seller does have the "best offer" option, tho.
Not for me, just saying
I discovered this coin in a lot of no dates I purchased last year and sold it thru GC earlier this year. Was hoping for a G4 and was a bit surprised when it got a 6. Sold for G-4 money. This photo shows the date better than the GC photos. No complaints here though. How can I gripe about 22,000% profit?
