This is a massive conflict of interest, protestations that the two companies will be kept fully separate. I'm skeptical that will happen. Even if it does, there's incredibly strong appearances of a conflict at minimum.

Honestly, I’m not sure. The two threads over on BO seem to think they are. This was from the link I posted above:
Collectors Holdings is owned by a group that includes Collectors Universe Chairman Nat Turner, a long-time hobbyist and entrepreneur who led a successful effort to take that company private earlier this year.

PSA is not involved in the news today that Collectors Holdings has acquired Goldin Auctions. Much like Berkshire Hathaway owns many companies in the insurance industry, Collectors Holdings will own many independently-operated companies in the collectibles industry
