Marketing Local "WTB" Ads...

With most of the daily/weekly newspapers going obsolete or next to nothing what is the best way to market local "wanted to buy" ads for people that might want to sell their unwanted collections in my area?

Be very wary of running such advertisements if you don't have an actual coin shop. You may be setting yourself up for trouble.

    Craig's list, Facebook, etc.

This is what I get from Facebook.

"This Listing Goes Against Our Rules on Documents and Currencies
It looks like this listing goes against our Commerce Policies on documents and currencies. Only you can see this listing now. If you think we got this wrong, you can request a review."

The Facebook algorithm is really bad. Unlikely they'd ever have a real person review it. My friend sells miniature scale WW2 models on occasion and gets all his posts flagged for selling weapons... guess they think my friend is really selling Howitzers on facebook... so he has to list them as really obscure things like "big 2wheel tractor model with a long barrel" :D

If you can find a way around that though Facebook is probably a great spot to find people selling their collections.

They won't allow paper money. You should be okay with coins.

I've tried to get it through numerous times with different text but they instantly get flagged. I will try different formats later.

What kind of trouble do you mean? I've pondered doing this but have never tried it.

If you are a thief, meeting a buyer who might have cash is seductive.

You also have people selling counterfeits that way.

Always bring a friend who is watching from a slight difference with 911 entered on your phone. And make sure you are capable of authenticating in the wild.

    Thank you, very good points.

My little town has a facebook page specifically for selling things. You may want to check your area for that type of thing. Actually two sites... and one is called xxxxxxyardsales.... so all sorts of stuff shows up on these sites. If you don't already have one, start it. Cheers, RickO
