A general question I realize but just wanted to get the feel around these parts

At least as good as Sylvester the Cat!
It would be pretty significant for me, especially, if it was a plate coin in one of his works. But a provenance like that overall is very cool because you rarely know the early history of a coin.
Very significant to me. I have tracked provenance as far back on all coins I have. Because of his landmark work, would be totally cool to be able to trace back particularly if an early American coin that may have been in his book
or if in his Haseltine 1883 sale.

It would be interesting to many collectors. I am not a 'provenance' collector, but many value this information. I would certainly keep such information if it were with a coin I wanted. Cheers, RickO
