How to use PCGS boxes with ATS slabs!

I have a lot of PCGS boxes and also a lot of ATS slabs, the latter a consequence of my interest in exonumia.
I wasn't sure what to do until I ran across this in a Reddit thread. What a great idea!

Good idea!
Notice though, some of the newer ANACS (I think they're newer?) slabs WILL fit nicely in the PCGS boxes.

put them upright but diagonally. start to put them in like your normally would but then rotate either clockwise or counter. you'll fit 1 less than normal and they won't touch each other. did it for years with nary a prob.

My NGC slabs are too tall for the lid to close properly. How does this help that?
i don't recall ever having a problem. perhaps there were some generations i just never had in the pcgs boxes. you gain some clearance with them at an angle though.
anyone want to post a picture of the method i'm talking about, feel free to.
i only have one slab currently and will have to dig to find my pcgs boxes.

I put some cardboard or other suitable protection on the exposed side of the slabs oriented in the box 'normally' to prevent the face of the slabs from being nicked or scratched from the horizontal coins sliding around in the box.
I’ve been collecting for 3years and never had a current ngc slab I have many fit in a pcgs box because they are too tall so angling them doesn’t change the height issue. Wow very surprised that this is unknown to you because you’re one of the big time knowledge providers😳

I have been doing the same thing for a few years. NGC slabs don’t fit like pcgs slabs so I put them sideways
This is what I do with PCGS Gen 6.0 slabs in ATS boxes and it works great.
Haven't been able to make it work the other way around.
I just tried this and this works for 16 slabs with six on each side.
The nice thing about this approach is that I can keep the taped inserts attached to the slab which some auction houses do.
I just stack 'em and pack 'em.... No OCD to deal with.... Cheers, RickO
Get an ATS box and see if they will accommodate both your PCGS and ATS slabs. My recollection from 5-10 years ago was they did, but slabs may have changed sizes since then.

Just tried sticking a recent pcgs slab in a ngc box. Seems to not fit like slab is to wide

Those look like PCGS slabs, not NGC slabs.
Why would you want to lose one slot when using PCGS slabs in PCGS boxes?
You could always 3D-print a spacer to go between the lid and box so that you'd have a box that would close with NGC slabs inside.

Ngc slabs are still too tall. I like the spacer idea😎
