This isn't mine but I just ran across it and have a thing for PCGS Gold Foil slabs. The inserts are just very classy.

PCGS used these for a very small number of the Canadian Gold Reserve issues.
These were offered by the RCM in November, 2012, if I recall correctly, and sold well and quickly (at first). The premium to spot was a little less than the US Mint premium for modern gold commems. It was about 10%. However, the RCM royally screwed the pooch with delivery of these because, as I understand it, they had issues with box quantity or quality. It's beyond me how they could offer coins sitting in vaults for a century or thereabouts and then hold up on distribution because they couldn't procure the proper number of quality of cardboard boxes.
Anyway, lots of folks cancelled their purchases because of the delay and I think there were multiple threads on the PCGS boards about how angry people were for the foul-up. I was willing to purchase over 100-pieces directly from the RCM and, since I didn't need the boxes and was buying so many at one time, they shipped the coins to me early. PCGS had not yet designed or introduced their custom insert for this group of coins, so they offered to certify my group with the gold foil inserts. Immediately after they received my coins, PCGS was up and running with the new and more colorful inserts. Therefore, I believe my 100-or so pieces are the only ones from this series that have the gold foil insert.
In total, there were 30,000 gold Canadian $5 and $10 coins sold into the market from the years of 1912, 1913 and 1914 while 215,000 more of the coins were melted and sold as gold bars. The 245,000 gold coins stored by the RCM for a century represent a full 50% of the original mintage for the six issues.
Here is a PCGS image they sent to me to confirm I would like the insert-
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
the 1912 is on my wish list as well as the 1913
That is a very nice label. @TomB, thanks for the background on these, I had not seen one before. Cheers, RickO
I thought these were made for the USS Republic gold.
I also got the gold foil for both of my 1857-S SSCA $20.
