Item Number: 21EFN
Mintage Limit: None
Product Limit: 10,250
Household Order Limit: 1

HOL is 1 for all 5 offerings.

What will you be focusing on?

Will you just throw your hands up and not be a Mint participant?

Remember, the Mint is ready this time.....all systems go.

Edited to add: I'll be going for the four coin set.

July 1st they are all systems go for the ASEs.

I will be in for the flip. I am a weak person. I will just take my usual ASE order though. The ASEs will be flippable, but not interested.

After the 75th Anniversary debacle, the Mayflower and the latest Morgan release I'm through competing with the greedy dealers. I would hope they got stuck with unsold inventory, but far too many over pay for something not even remotely "rare". Wishful thinking I know. In any event, I'm done with David Ryder and the U.S. Mint. If at some point I can't get what I'd like at a reasonable price then I do not need it. Let me know how ready they are at 12:01.

If the gold price stays where it is, a bit under $1,800, are these 4-coin sets (1.85 ounces) really going to cost around $5,147.50 or $2,782 per ounce, like the 2020's and 2019's that are still available?

That is one really high price premium, and really hard to for me to imagine a good reason for justifying it. I do notice, there are stated product limits, but the 4-coin set 21EFN currently indicates NO mintage limit (even though the individual coins do have mintage limits. New math?

Makes me wonder if there could be some other marketing push later in the year to sell even more of the 4-coin set anyway?

The 4-coin Gold Proof sets never have a mintage limit…

Could you explain what happens when all 10,250 sets are sold. Are you saying they can mint more 4 coin sets, but it would be a different product?

Also, I noticed that the product limit was 8,200 on the type 1 Gold Proof sets.

I sold out my 75ths and my Mayflowers.

We are currently tracking a 4-coin Gold Proof set of $4,962.50…

That’s likely the price the Mint will post for the 2021 Type 1 American Gold Proof 4-coin set tomorrow afternoon …

  • MsMorrisineMsMorrisine Posts: 33,342 ✭✭✭✭✭

    Nah.

Each single coin has a montage limit on the single coin’s page

I’d say a set of 4 coins with each coin having a different mintage limit will not show a mintage limit on that page. It’ll just show the product limit.

Idk. The Type 1 sets are under $6000 on eBay. A few have sold for $5600 recently. Not a lot of room there.

OK, but wouldn't it logically have to be limited to the same mintage limit, as the lowest mintage limit of any of the 4 individual coins?

No. If anything, it would have to be the highest mintage of the 4 coins. But that would still be deceptive.

Pass. Too much of a premium over melt. I'll stick with classic US gold coins.

Even beyond the premium, I think the mintage is simply too high for the long run. You've got around 20,000 of each coin and 10,000 of the 4 coin set. The 2019 4 coin set is still on sale with a total of 8335 units sold.. The 2020 4-coin set has sold 11,143 units and is still on sale. 10,000 is simply not scarce enough to justify such a huge premium. Average collectors don't shell out $5000 for anything.
