I came across this 1976 D Washington Quarter and would like opinions if this is an actual double die or just machine doubling. Thanks in advance for taking a look. Appreciate it!

A whole lot of machine doubling.
Classic machine doubling. If you are interested in how to distinguish machine doubling from true hub doubling (the good kind) go here and choose the "worthless doubling" category.

Not a doubled die. No notching of the serifs and a flat secondary image. This is classic machine doubling.
Yes it is possible to find new discovery pieces and no this isn't one of them. I agree with those saying this is strike doubling.
Man, there have been a ton of new members posting machine doubling lately.

I blame YouTube.
The joke is that even if they find a real doubled minor variety, they are likely to get a whopping $2 for it, not the fortune they expect.

Yes there has been. I view it as a good thing.... more individuals having an awareness and interest in the coin collecting hobby. They are all welcome!
Definitely machine doubling.... Nice example and very good pictures. Cheers, RickO
there are no split serifs anywhere -> machine doubling
