Reminds me of that joke where two guys are looking for their wives and first one describes his wife and the second one after hearing the description says "let's just look for yours together".

Colosseum sestertius. Holding this coin at the ANA in Chicago in 2013 at Heritage's booth crystallized my collecting strategy. My jaw hit the floor thinking about the history of the inaugural games held at the Colosseum and the hands it'll have passed through. Subsequently finding a pedigree to an archaeologist in 1910 made it even more appealing:
Athens gold diobol, minted from the melted down statues of Nike on the Akropolis to fund the creation of a navy against Sparta in the Peloponnesian War.
When I saw the catalog come out for this coin, I walked into the living room and told my wife, "I have never been this excited about an upcoming coin." Stacks doesn't specialize in ancients and thoroughly flubbed up the cataloging, estimating the coin far too low. It's one of two available to private collectors (the other is owned by a close friend of mine) and I had to outbid the Tyrant but couldn't be happier with the coin, with all of its abrasions and imperfections.
Eid Mar denarius, minted to Brutus to commemorate the assassination of Julius Caesar on the Ides of March, 44 BC. This is the second example of the type I've owned - I was unsatisfied with my first example but after selling it, I was worried I wouldn't be able to afford another, still glad to have owned one. Then this coin came around and all bets were off. I had a max bid planned out which would be brutally strong... and learned it wouldn't be close to winning. So, I reshuffled around some coins in my collection to trim out some lesser pieces to pull together the strongest bid I could realistically justify... and I bought it (thankfully decently back from my max!)

Great coins all around. As I'm a ancient guy, those I admire the most are @SmEagle1795's coins, but all are gorgeous.

Hi, new to the forum and been collecting CDN pre-68 decimal coins with an emphasis on Proof Like, Proof & Specimen Strikes. Here are my three favourite coins from my collection:
Purchased this 1964 Proof Dime raw along with two sisters (that were also Proofs) This one graded the highest.
Also bought this 1938 Canadian Half Dollar raw. Graded a respectable MS63 as higher grades for this year are hard to find and costly.
Finally this 1953 dime was crossed graded from ICCS. Excited to find this coin in such great shape and was hoping PCGS would give it the PL67 I believe it deserves. Happy just to have her!
These are among my favorites, all purchased in the 1970's, when I first became interested in foreign coins. Looking back, there were some incredible bargains to be had. The 1933 China "junk" dollar (much scarcer than the 1934, now a PCGS MS63) cost $5.00, the 1912-B Great Britain trade dollar (MS64+) was $8.00, and the 1918-S Philippines 50 cents (MS64) was $20. I'd like to think that there are still "sleepers" out there today.
Since this is a list of favorites, it's all pretty much guaranteed "like" button material. I can't question anyone's taste here so far.
After posting mine, and finding myself at the bottom of the page, I decided to read the thread from the bottom up.
I'd hit the "like" button at the bottom of each post, and while scrolling upwards, try to guess which member posted which coins, before the username showed. I managed to correctly guess a few.

Present-day Top Three is a tough call. I guess from my current holdings, it might be these.
