If you collect the proofs, then I'll say yes. However, no MS collector is as odd as the Merc guys. They even accept that as a compliment from most fellow collectors. Some of them are salvagable, and even recognize that the Walker and SLQ are pretty too.
Keith - Boy am I in luck, I collect proof Kennedy half dollars. Now I can be weird just like the winged liberty people. Its just wonderful to be a part of such a weird but distinguished group. Bear
Hey! I'm used to being called a bit weird by non-collectors, but I sure didn't expect it from the folks here. I suppose I should be insulted, but it's better than being ignored (like collectors of most other series seem to be). The Merc collectors are a good group, and so is anyone else that discourages postings by LW.

My Merc Set Countdown: 25 coins remaining until completion.
I wouldn't say you guys are weird, but the idea of a cult comes to mind
It's a shame that other series don't seem to have as strong of a follaowing as this series does. You get some sporadic posters, but nobody as devoted as you guys.
for me i would need to see this ms 68 dime in person to make a call on it.......
as for LW
he is welcome here anytime and i think overall he is of merit on these boards
and i did see a few on this thread be unreasonable to him with their remarks which show their true character
a few on this board are sinking to new lows by ganging up and attacking others and i have found recently less positive and more negative from members on these boards
Re the dime: Let's not forget that the picture is from the Heritage website. I think Heritage has several strong points, but having the best pictures on the web is NOT one of their strong points. The coin might (indeed, I would almost say "must" rather than "might") look better in person. In fact, I think the coin looks decent in the smaller Heritage picture. Of course, I am not sure decent = MS68....
Re lw: He's apparently a kid, so I am willing to cut him some slack. But I wish he would, in turn, cut us some slack and stop with the incessant posting.
I was the only bidder on that one,...up until today! I concur(sick) with Mark on Heritage's pics. The '16 67FB that I got from them was way nicer in person. It will be interesting to see what the floor bidders have to say about it!
And a BIG THANKS to Braddick for gettin' that little twit out o' here!!! I have seen him beg for coins(and now he says he has a large Merc set?!?), spend his inheritance before his poor grandfather could pass away, snipe the registry program with a bunch of one-coin sets just for three measly free subs., pimping coins (what's up with that, Mitch?), and lately we've all had to put up with the diarrhea of his keyboard(in which I feel pimping Mitch's coins help contribute). I, for one, have no more slack to cut, and tact only works with people who understand. This guy is clueless!
Don: I'm out of here for a couple days beginning first thing in the morning. But, you would enjoy where I am heading though with your "Full Heads Rule" slogan. I am off to examine what I am told is the very strongest detailed FULL HEAD 1918/17 overdate SLQ in existence. The coin is currently in a PCGS-MS63FH holder. See you guys on line late Wednesday night. Wondercoin.

Boy, leave for a few days and the kids start fight'in. I never did understand what LW stated in his thread that started the fued(sp).
Ken,
I don't think a pic could be bad enough to turn a 68 into that pic you posted, but to give the coin a fair chance I'll say you would have to see it in person. Once you get over 66 it's hard to see the differences in grades.
And have you ever noticed that for a grading service that doesn't like toning, that all 68 and higher coins are toned. I have never seen a blast white 68 or 69 that I can remember. By the way I like white and toned coins. I was not trying to infer anything into that statement it's just an personal observation.

I do what I can.
The same tact seems to be working over on the Open forum side too. Cool.

edited to add:
another sporadic postin' weird Merc guy!
Don: I admire the entreprenureal spirit in everyone. It was as simple as that.
I truly had no idea of this other stuff going on. Geez, I need to hang out in the open forum more often! Wondercoin.
I do not hang at the open forum.
I saw this twit for what he was a LOOOOONG time ago, and it was on this forum! I'm surprised you didn't!

Don
Are the two quarter guys gettin' together?
Sounds like a meetin' w/Cline.
"I am not worthy"!
Have a good trip, and try to get us some pics.

Mercs. Walkers and SLQ's all the way.

What did LW do?
So what if he posts a lot? I post much less as he is simply using my allotment.
Does not look like an attractive MS68 to say the least.
The question will be is it even attractive for a MS-67? Inspection in person is needed.
What did LW do?"
My list is in my 1st post on this thread. I'm sure there are more, but I don't read 'em all! Those were enough for me!

Don
