I read a story of a 54th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry Regiment Monument restoration being unveiled which was created by "American sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens spent 14 years creating the monument, unveiling it to fanfare in 1897."
This would certainly be an impressive commemorative medal, especially in high-relief.

It’s a beautiful monument that I’ve seen often. Great idea to use it on a commemorative issue.
It would look great on the back of currency, as well...
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
And it's been a long time passed. Time to return to when our currency was works of art.
Is this monument considered exonumia?
That is impressive. It truly would look good on currency... Or a large medal. Cheers, RickO
