I was just reading about Joseph Jacob Mickely, "The Father of American Numismatics" and ran across the following information which got me wondering, what was the acquisition history of 1804 dollars?
From the following, we have:
- 1843 - Matthew Stickney
- 1858 - Joseph Jacob Mickley

Mickley is tied to an iconic piece of numismatic history. He was the second collector to ever buy an 1804 Draped Bust Dollar, accomplishing the feat in a trade with bank teller Henry C. Young around 1858 – some 15 years after Matthew Stickney became the first private collector to 1804 Draped Bust Dollar to claim the coin.

You've got 1958 instead of 1858
Fixed. Thanks!
As always, PCGS CoinFacts has very good provenance lists for each specimen.

Yes, there is that. It would be nice to have them sorted by date, with commentary.
Many lists are often sorted by condition which doesn't go into the history of how they were distributed.
Is this covered in any book on the subject?
In the past, I have made graphs showing the price history of a couple of classic rarities,
which may be similar to what you describe ("sorted by date").
It could be done for the 1804 dollar. Not too hard to do with Excel (but not that easy, either).
