Anything new from the recent Sedwick sale?

I was successful on the lot of a complete set of Luis I 8 reales.

How about you?

Q: When does a collector become a numismatist?

A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.

A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.

I got something but you have to guess 😄

I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

I wish I had bought the Ecuadorian pieces but too strong and had another coin I was working to fund.

Did you splurge for a gold cob?

As @MrEureka likes to say (and I'll probably butcher this), "More money is easy to come by. More (good) coins are not."

I've always done my best to live by that theme.

I was initially going to bid on the 1755 JM Peru 2R but bought the 1764 I posted elsewhere instead. It only sold for $240 but not sure it's eligible for a straight grade. (I consider it borderline.) I already have a "details", the Yonaka plate coin.

Since I do not buy coins for "investment" and now buy coins I only intend to keep, to me it's always a trade off between how much I will pay for a coin and the time plus effort to generate the funds to buy it. How much time from my life do I have to trade for it?

In addition to budget limits, that's why I don't buy the coins I used to and won't ever buy the coins most other collectors do either.

I considered going after the 1807 Mexico 8R in NGC64, but after seeing a few videos of the coin felt it would have had a difficult time getting crossed at the same grade at PCGS.
