Gold Bars stolen at LA airport by cargo handlers

2,000 (~ 2 tons) gold bars shipped from Singapore; arrived at LA airport then a box went missing. The missing box was then located.. but minus some 2 pound gold bars. Two cargo handlers were arrested.

    I find it incredible that they thought they could get away with the theft. The amount of security around such things alone should be enough to thwart such activity. However, no one ever said thieves were particularly smart - just thieves. Cheers, RickO

    It’s slightly amusing that the article refers to the bars as about two pounds each. I assume they were kilogram bars. Perhaps a kilogram is still hard for people to relate to.

    Just being near the gold caused that kind of stupid reaction and behavior to take temporary possession of the precious. Peace Roy
