Newp: Papal States Piastra

Bob13Bob13 Posts: 1,649 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just got this newp from the HA in hand (thanks @Stella for checking on it for me!). It’s a new direction for me, but I’ve been amazed at some of the artistry on the Italian/Papal coins of this era.

Coin in hand is big, beautiful and beautifully made.

It also came with a couple old auction tags. Does this mean that it sold in 1957?

    Thanks @worldcoinguy !

Before the auction I enjoyed reading your prior post about these coins. Very informative!

Was doing some reading/googling - "Clausis Foribus Veniet et Dabit Pacem" - When the doors are opened, he will come and give peace.

    Nice coins @Bob13 and @worldcoinguy!

Here's mine, a minor denomination. 1675 was a Jubilee Year, so the Holy Door was a common theme for issues of this year from the Papal States.
