Not bad at all for that price.

I love the ‘95 cents, and have multiples, but I especially appreciate the lettered edge/thick planchet varieties. They are legitimately scarce coins.

I owned this 1795, S-78, cent in AU before I upgraded the type to a low end Mint State piece. I am not posting this to show you up. I simply think that it is interesting to see these coins in high grade. It might help you later on with the grading if you have a chance to get a higher grade example.

One of the issues with these early coins is that they did not have much of a protective rim that shielded the design from wear. It did not take a great deal of time in circulation for these coins to wear down to the low grades.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

    Great example for the price!

Agreed, not bad for the price. Many of these are corroded, but yours comes with a full date and a full outline of Liberty. I'm also looking at this type and certain pieces, even in higher grades, sometimes come weakly struck and you can't really see the date...

Here’s a junker with a number of issues, including a clipped planchet.
But it is a S-76a, R5, with a whopping total of 6 coins certified by Pcgs in ALL grades.

Wow, what a nice addition to your collection, Matthew 21. Congrats, I think it is a good looking coin regardless of the corrosion and thankfully it is at least entombed.
Greg, nice coins, brother. Thanks for sharing everyone.

A few others. The thin planchet plain edge cents seem to have nicer, light chocolate surfaces.

Thanks guys, those are some great looking large cents as well. I’m actually putting a set together from 1794-1857. The 1793,1799, and the 1804 are a little to expense for me. So I’m putting a custom set together. :)

My set is custom also, where I’m doing a date set + affordable, significant varieties, along with whatever other varieties fall in my lap, like the 76a I posted. They range from scudzy, details coins to slabbed 64’s, and I love every one of them!

Exactly I buy what I can afford at the time and I have a 1853 ms63 one of my favorite coins in my collection.

@matthew21, that is a nice S-78 with a fair amount of detail remaining. I think you made a good purchase.
Is this your first early large cent, or have you been collecting for a while?

I also quite like the cents which @walker21D posted.

If I may, these are the 1795's currently in my collection:
S-75 (lettered edge), an S-76b (I believe one of the most common Liberty Caps), and an S-77.

Those are some nice large cents as well really like those. I have been collecting them for a little bit the ones I have from the 1700s, are a 1794 s-59, and a 1797, and just the bought 1795. I need to post my collection on here to show. I have a good amount from the 1800s.

@Eddi very nice '95's! The S77 is high R3 and not seen very often.
Really glad to see 1795's getting some love in this thread, as they are usually overshadowed by the '94's.

@Matthew21 yes, please post any or all of your collection. Just don't be surprised when I jump in. As you can probably tell, I'm an enthusiast....
