Can you see a VDB on the shoulder? They didn't start putting it on until 1918.

In all seriousness, the last digit is almost certainly a 4, but the second-to-last digit is more questionable. If that blob under the date is a mintmark, it's punched too high to match any MM position (that I'm aware of) on 1914-D or 1914-S. In addition, the ghost of a digit seems to be the same height as the final 4.

Not exactly easy to tell in this grade, but I think that's a 1944-D or 1944-S.

I think it is a 1914 but I'm not seeing a mintmark, just a spot where less metal has corroded away.
