What Mint Product do you wish the Mint made in 2021?

ZoinsZoins Posts: 34,116 ✭✭✭✭✭

I just received my US Mint catalog. It's nice and I do like the new ASE reverse, but what I'm really missing is Morgan and Proof Dollar Reverse proofs.

How about you? What coin do you wish the Mint would make in 2021 but isn't?

Instead of minting 5 coin and 6 coin sets, sell just a wooden box for them.

Great idea and one I didn't think of. It is the 50th anniversary of the Ike!

Ya know they’d still make it 99.9

Now that would be neat. I really like the design.

Like I mentioned in my other thread, something as visually appealing as the following. :)

    .
I'm not a collector of the 5 oz pucks but would've purchased one of the new Washington design if it had been made. Considering all of the various products offered and the gimmicks the Mint uses these days, I am shocked they missed the boat on this one. Guess they are too busy selling 3" bronze medals for $160 . . . sure they are ;)

A proof of any kind for the Peace dollar. Might as well make a proof Morgan, too. I also like the Ike idea.

Proofs have been discussed to be coming in 2022.

    Didn't know that.

Not sure how much of this has been discussed, but it was mentioned by Louis here:

As for the possibility of Proof versions, which collectors would love, this is another option that could be a possibility in 2022.

Well, I hope they do. I'm in for one if it happens.

Something new and exciting, emphasis on new and exciting!
For example, a five dollar high relief silver nickel and with a mintage around 100 million so they wouldn’t sky rocket yet still give us collectors and new collectors a good buzz.
In the clad department I wouldn’t mind seeing a new denomination, the 33 1/3 quarter replacement, slightly bigger or smaller. This would eliminate the need for 1, 5, and 10 cents, let’s face it nothing costs less than a quarter these days anyway.
The government could buy them all back except of course for the slabbed ones :-)
As far as the design goes and while addressing the woke crowd, this is where it gets tricky. Aside from Kamala with a Spliff I would suggest some pre-1900 designs like the Roman numerals on the three cent.

I would have loved a set of 1921 coins minted with 2021 dates. I love the Mercury dime, SLQ, and Walker half, but don't want to shell out the money for their gold versions from 2016. And 1921 was a semi-key date for each of those.

It was so simple or so I thought, just a 90% silver 2021 Morgan and High Relief Peace with 4 rays below the ONE. And a little more in the detail category. These current renditions remind me of the chocolate coins I used to get at Christmas. Sad Production.

    Don't break your tooth!

I'm okay with the .999 silver, primarily because I'm hoping they will tone like classic Morgans.

I would like to see a silver, proof Morgan with the W mint mark. Cheers, RickO

A May 28 retirement day gold proof. The countdown is on. Maybe I will take up coin collecting again in my spare time. But first I have not had a vacation in four years, so its time to lay on the beach and throw back some Heinekens.

Kinda late for this year. I know these won't fly, but I find them intriguing:

A 2022 D Lincoln Cent coined only in Denver without a mintmark.

A 2022 Lincoln Cent with a V.D.B. Wheat Ear reverse.

A Gold 2022 Washington Quarter for collectors featuring the original obverse and reverse.

    I'm not well...............

Also the 2016 version proves that the only way you're going to get a fully rendered SLQ and Walker is going to be through collecting a modern remake of those coins. By and large not even the most fully struck SLQ and Walkers have 100% detail. I'd definitely like to see a type 2 SLQ as the type 1 SLQ wasn't really something the artist was thrilled about.
