I thought this was an error, now thinking PM damage?

I posted this new pickup on this thread
.
I was thinking it was a cud. A broken die. Now I'm looking at it and its recessed, not raised.
The token is from the late 1880. Made in England for gaming.
If it is post mint damage what did this or how? If it was damaged wouldn't the reverse show some signs?

A cud would be at the edge (and raised).
In any case, I agree with struck through.
Either a struck through or a detached lamination. Not PMD.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
I agree - it was struck through.
A tiny slice of pizza probably got into the striking chamber.
Strike through.
Strike through... a Dorito!
Looks raised in the picture. If so, I’d think a die problem.

It's actually a depression in the surface of the coin.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
You're right. I re-read the original description. Somehow missed that.

When I first saw it I also thought it was raised. I guess it was just an optical illusion.

Thanks everyone........I was going to call it the pizza face error. But Dorito is pretty good too
And, @JBK your right, a cud needs to be near the edge. Not sure wth I was thinking.

I did get one other error. If no one clicked on the link these are gaming tokens from late 1800’s.
The majority of this variety where the man and woman are facing each other were made of copper by various makers. These are brass. Ironically I’ve discovered the ones that feature a single player were made of brass and copper/bronze is rarer.
.
Now, as the token says......keep your temper when gambling

Great tokens Stef! I've been looking for these for a while. The struck thru and off center tokens are amazing!
Your collection and posts really are a treat on the forums!
You always have great items to post. Thanks, Stef.

Strike through. I had to look at it twice ... it looked raised.
Wow... weird optical illusion... especially when I look at it on my laptop screen and not my phone... I also thought it was raised at first.
