Just Lost My Old Dog Today...Post a Coin with a Dog

Cody would have been 17 on Sunday...he was a rescue and could be a royal PITA.

We went from having a nice long walk in the park on Saturday to losing him today.

I already miss him terribly. Although I knew this day would come...I wasn't ready for it to be today.

    That's ok...neither do I. A US coin with a dog doesn't come to mind...funny that.

So, so sorry buddy. I know the dreadful feeling. Just lost my Morty, about 3 weeks ago. What's really tough is not seeing his water bowl and his little dog bed. Every day I look in those same spots. :'(
Please try to only think about the time we were given to be with him. Take care my friend.

Morty looks like a good boy too.

Cody was 17...here's everywhere in my house...everywhere...literally...bowls, blankets, toys, pictures, tufts of hair, stains on the rug!

Oh yeah...and a lock on the toilet seat cover...because somebody liked his water really cold!

Last night I'm trolling for half dollars...and today this.

When my "Buddy" passed we too had his toys and bowls, etc. Found a nice park table in a nice neighborhood and just loaded the table up with his "possessions" with a sign that said "free from a good dog".

They went on to be cherished by another pet in another family.

So sorry for you loss and here's a pic of my Buddy, he too was a rescue pup and this pic is now 16 years old. This is him in his first car ride coming "home":

Walked in those shoes several times bro, I feel your pain. I want to tell you that it gets better, but what it gets is less painful, never better. My vet gave me plaster paw prints from the two I lost and I keep them with their collars and a picture of each. Prayers out for you and your family.

My heart breaks for you. Many of us know exactly what you're going through and how you feel. Everywhere in the house, yard and car are memories. I still have my boxer's chew toy under the front passenger seat (where he sat on our rides) from when he passed 5 years ago.

Buddy was my lab from circa 1989. About 120pds and could look me eye to eye when standing.

Gigi was a rescue from a puppy mill. Lived 16 years. Figured she had to be close to 19 when she passed. Toughest animal I ever knew and Loved her momma!

YspSales, I too had a monster male yellow lab at 120 pounds and I thought he was an absolute anomaly. It is good to see another.
He was a goose-hunting cold-water fetching machine and would even do his best field hunting with pheasant.

He never became a hunter but he had good lines. My fault. Wish I had at least done field trials.

Bred him once, we had a freak snow/ice storm. The poor breeder sat up while the female gave birth to 13 puppies on Christmas Eve...lol

    So sorry for you.
Been through this too many times.
    It is far too hard!
Sorry I don’t have any coins with doggies on them.
I’ve got lots of animal coins though and it strikes me that perhaps more dogs SHOULD be featured considering what huge parts they play in our lives and society overall.
Service dogs, therapy dogs, police, military, cadaver dogs, rescue, the list goes on and on!
    Best to you. Take care.

Sorry for your loss. Losing a dear pet is heartbreaking, particularly if it's sudden like what happened to your dog. I found myself looking for and envisioning my lost pets (Duff, my beagle, and Zorra, my cat) for weeks. I have a new dog and cat now that are both wonderful but I'll always miss my Duffer and Zorra.

Thank you all for your kind thoughts.

I think I was in shock yesterday...my 17 YO friend (his birthday would have been this Sunday...Mother's Day...we always bought a Pepperidge Farm cake for him) went from walking normally in the sunshine on Saturday, to being unable to get up and stopped eating on Sunday, to being euthanized only 27 minutes after arriving at the emergency vet yesterday...it was all horribly head spinning.

Apparently, he was able to hide cancer that apparently spread everywhere, but was not detected in checkups last year. We just thought he was slowing down and getting weak in the backside.

And when I got home, his essence was still everywhere.

Today, my wife has started to quietly put some of his things away...like his bowls and treats. And this morning, as God as my witness, I woke up from a dead sleep to what I thought was a single bark.

    I loved that dumb dog.

I know what it is like to lose pets, I've had dogs that lived to 22 years, 16 years and cats that have lived to 6, 18, 19 and 20. The six year old kitty had a heart condition and died two weeks ago. He and his brother were adopted back in 2015 and were inseparable. They played with my dog, they all like to chase each other around etc. Like in my previous post, I love my fur family more than anyone outside of my immediate family.

I believe they give us unconditional love - better than humans a lot of the time.

So sorry man that beyond sucks ! ....I know the feeling of that day after a fur-family has passed on and it’s tough .... but great to hear that he had a nice long life, and a nice long walk beforehand, and didn’t have to suffer it out ... PEACE
