Any rhyme or reason as to why this set is D/P/S and not P/D/S?

Most coin albums will show the various dates within a set as the "P" mint first, followed by the "D" mint and concluding with the "S" mint, not so with PCGS. I wonder why?

Probably the submitter asked for it to be that way. They chose an alphabetical approach.
TurtleCat Gold Dollars
That has to be the answer. Can't think of any other reason.

I agree that an alpha approach was the reason.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
Alphabetical. If by age it would be: (P)/S/D
That is something I would not have even noticed...Just do not focus on label details. Cheers, RickO
That's my guess too although I can think of one other reason: so that @braddick would post a thread asking about it.
D, P, S is alphabetical.
P, D, S puts the Philly mint first (since it is the mother mint) and then goes alphabetical for the other two mints.
P, S, D is chronological.
All of my (older and some newer) coin albums list coins in P D S

Probably was based on how the form was filled out.
The early coin albums were chronological per the founding of the mints, thus P S D. Post’s penny boards copied this. What became Whitman bought out Post and kept the same order in its pennyboards and later the blue tri-fold albums. When the Redbook came out later it used the same order, but Wayte Raymond complained that this was too much like his “Standard Catalogue” so Whitman switched to alphabetical in its books and its albums.
The albums I own are all P D S. Even the Redbook lists coins this way.

Just went out and pulled a few random coin albums along with a 1964 Redbook.

P D S is the standard from various different coin albums (some old, some new).

Older folders were P S D
And that is a fact!
Found one!
