Is this a die crack even though on an incuse coin?

It doesn't look PMD. Would it be considered a die crack? Being an incuse coin, I wouldn't think a crack since it is indented into the coin. So, I'm thinking a laminate issue.

Die cracks have to be raised.
I sense a slight ripple to the left of the L. Lamination? Not 100% sure.
That's why I was more against a die crack. What would this be considered as, though?
Does it look like it's peeling up along this area?
There seems to be a "lip" to it like peeling.
Like JBK said, maybe a lamination.
Thanks. Just needed more knowledged opinions.
Looks like a peeling lamination, nice find! I had one of these once, and PCGS would not holder it for some reason. I think they said they could not guarantee it would survive the holdering process, so they did not holder them. So off to NGC it went.
.
a lot of people have posted coins over the years here that didn't grade due to that but plenty of other coins have made it through grading as well. fwiw
it looks like a double (slightly) profilw on the upper lip?
I would have rather it ended up in PCGS plastic, but oh well. They refused, and NGC didn't.
Looks like a lamination.
Out of the big three, I'm thinking ANACS is the go-to company for errors.
With only the one photo (2 same area) I agree with
Those who say planchet lamination.
OP - did you submit the coin under the Mint Error tier?
Nice error.
Anything going on, on the rev ? Peace Roy

Strange to see on a gold coin....It does appear to be a planchet defect. Other pictures would help. Cheers, RickO
