User name change

Is there any way to change a user name here on the message boards without losing all your history? I started out here as roncoin back in the late nineties but changed it to its current form not too long after. That's been so long ago I can't remember the circumstances.
Thanks!

Are you trying to correct the spelling errors?
As I had always understood it, there was no changing of the name. You have what you have. Then a week or two ago a member here had a dark name and had it changed to a not so dark name. So evidently it can be done. What the rules are about it I do not know. I would expect that help from a mod with God powers would be required.
It is possible it appears.

The incident you quote is what got me to thinking about it. I originally tried to adopt "coinquest" but that name was already being used. I would change it to that or "coinquest1961" if it can be done. If it wasn't so difficult to talk to someone at PCGS I'd go that route.
Special case I’m guessing
What new name are you striving for?
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.

As stated above-either-coinquest" or "coinquest1961."
I assume that PCGS changed it for the poster formerly known as DarkRage.
The circumstances for your previous name change were likely the "great migration" of February, 2001.
Prior to that time (in the 1990s through 2000) we had an entirely different forum platform and software, but the major update of February, 2001 necessitated all new registrations and user names for everyone on the boards. I can recall several members changing their names at that time such as Kokimoki and JonR. I kept my name the same, just as braddick, ricko and others did.
Perhaps your previous change in user names was from that forum software switch?

That's quite possible, TomB.
If anyone knows if it can be done now please let me know.
I would also like to know.
I'm going to register ErrrosOnCoins first!
We know it can be done as it just was for another member, however I suspect that it was a special case and for the most part that PCGS has better things to do than worry about chat room members wanting name changes, or at least I would hope that they do given the recent complaints over long response wait times to talk to CS.

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
If my vote counts, please keep your present username. It always makes me smile because for the longest time, I thought you lived in Key West. I know it makes little sense but I am also terrible at figuring out vanity license plates...

Key West??? I wish! I would like to adopt the name I tried-coinquest. But I can live with the one I have. Does anyone know if there still is a coinquest here?
you could always try the woke argument ... You just found out that some consider it a derogatory term when used by people that are not natives of Turkey and you do not want to offend anyone. Perhaps a less offensive name such as coinquest or coinquest1961 would be more appropriate on these boards.
OK.
With most forum software a moderator or administrator has to do it.
Perhaps I will try to contact one by email.
I thought it was a play on Kanye West. Read as "Coin-yey West".
Evidently, it can be done, but I have no idea how the member did it. Not that I would want to change my name, I have had it all my life
... Well, mostly, but that is another story. Cheers, RickO
Man, that's the same as me! When I started here I thought that it meant "Coin Key West".
Now I feel better.
Pete
When I first saw your user name, I thought it was a play on Kanye West - 'konyewest'.

Well now we need to hear the story...
And I'd vote for keeping your user name. People build up an identity and changing a name after many years ends up adding more confusion than benefit.
@U1chicago.... Well, it is kind of a soap opera story and not really for a coin forum. Cheers, RickO
I imagine it may take a little bit, but a moderator may eventually do it for you.
I would never change mine, but that's because it's my last name and I've had it ALL my life.

Sorry to disappoint but it has nothing to do with Kanye West. I wouldn't dream of such a thing.
send a email it to corporate
I'd like to change my name to Jessup
if we get a day to do this like we used to only get 1 day every now and then to change our avatars, when that day arrives, i'd like mine to be: pǝʇɹǝʌuᴉCENTS
what would really be stellar is if the mods would see this thread and then as some undisclosed day in the future, start changing our names here w/o us knowing to the names we ask and one day we log in and try to figure out what the heck just happened. LOL
I wanna take the Fever off mine...Since it has come down a tad.
You'd be better off removing the scratch from the coin.
OH BROTHER!
Pete
ScratchFever? That don't sound good.
Edit: CoinFever, whoops, no. I like Jessup too
since it never happened (sad emoji) i'd like to go ahead and rechange mine to NEOcapcicle
I don't know about you but this would be a good candidate for the times we live in:
Pete
.
pretty good but you gotta put a negative sign before: -100
I changed my name years back......Had the "newbie" changed to "guy". Had to go thru a moderator to get it done.

Shouldn't this be closed out of respect for the thread starter who is no more amongst us.

The OP passed away rather recently.

That's a pretty good idea, using last name as user name...
And RIP, koynekwest.
Yes, unfortunately, it was last November

This is sad to know...
Now I'm wondering why did @LanceNewmanOCC open up a thread from almost a year ago??

on the off chance a mod would respond about name changes.
