Lamination error on this Buffalo?

    Some years are plagued with this issue. 1921 comes to mind.

    When it is on both sides like that, could it be bordering on a split planchet?

    Even though the alloy mix is 75% copper and 25% nickel the Buffalo nickels for some reason had a bunch of years with bad alloy mixes. this is common but it is unusual to see it almost all the way through on this one, sometimes the entire nickel split in two from bad mixes, Nickel is very hard and copper is soft so I can understand if one cools off faster than the other when they roll it.
