Welcome to the forum.
Very cool first post, as well as, very cool first coin! Gold is not my cup of tea, but I still admire a nice old one when I see one. A Charlotte too. An old mint that not too many of us have any coin from. Can I ask why so long lurking? We need you here. Lol. Post often and esp. have fun and learn. -joey

Thank you Joeykoins, I am not sure why I was a lurker. I have collected coins since I was 6 years old. I am now 54 and it I finally registered. My specialty is early federal and branch mint gold. I will post many more nice ones in the future
welcome. i think my first post was about classic heads.
that reverse die. just goes to show what can happen when you try to get the absolute max out of a die.
de-laminations
bi-sected broken die
re-punched/cut letters/devices
die breaks
die chips
die cracks
one of the most die polished dies in all of numismatics. some serious metal was taken off that sucker.

Lance, wonderful blow up there. I also have another 38-C from the same die without the break. I have never seen a mid stage die coin with only a partial break.
