That’s a clipped planchet, not a rim clip-Too large to be a rim clip
Nice example

They are fairly common, even the 1964's. I've been
thinning out my box 'o clips in the past few months,
selling the silver 64's, and also the 40% and Clad dates.
Your nice BU 69-D would bring about $15, maybe a
bit more, on Ebay - a $15-$25 retail coin, imo.

How common or uncommon are clipped half dollar planchets?
And what do you think the value of this coin is?
I agree with Fred - it is not terribly rare on it's own, but it would have been a great find still in the Mint set.

Incomplete planchets wanted, especially Lincoln Cents & type coins.

Wish I could find a mint set with an error coin! Still neat to find!
TurtleCat Gold Dollars
SanctionII-
You have pictures of it in the Mint Set?
I have one with a nice struck thru on the cent.
If you bought the set from a dealer was the error noted?
No, I bought it straight from the Mint back in 1990.
That was fortunate for you. Good score.
