Here's the my short set a few need be up graded... the 37 D is a 3 legger, there are rpm's, ddo's,ddr's, & 38 D/S omm ,as each coin is a buffalo variety some well know some not, just a fun set to put together.
And whats nice this is doable for most collectors, yes it may take you some time as some of the varities are higher price....but half the fun is getting thers.....the hunt the find...and being happy with your end task.
Not happy with the images my pad takes lousy images...but this is the best I can do at present.

Yes ...you know it be hard to pick 1 coin as a 1st place winner for eye candy.
And even the mid grades have very desireable varieties. So yeah all of these specimens are gorgeous!
1936-D 3 1/2 Legs -- a coin that has captured my imagination since I was a kid....
I have nine major Buff varieties in my display tray. This is one of them. The nine are the 1913 3 1/2 legs, 1916/16, 1918-D 8/7, 1930 DDO-006, 1935 DDR-001, 1936 DDO-001, 1936 DDR-001, 1936-D 3 1/2 legs, and 1937-D 3 legs. Those are the top nine of the series in my opinion.

How could you possibly forget a coin like this?
If I remember right you had a pretty 26-d I liked but you wouldn’t sell it to me, my coin brother 😊😁
Well, I didn't forget....just joking. It's the positive part of having one's own camera. However, I also recall having a mushy 26-D....
This thread has exploded with some fantastic treasures...as did the H~10 thread i posted.
I must confess the envy.... but every post has been such a joy to open and read.
Thanks again for taking these threads on a wild ride of color and coins.
I only have one buffalo in my herd so far...and he's a cripple.
.
Thank you...i lovevto share life experiences, as a child i was on the recieving end of tales of life before me....i love a good story...i love knowing wherecwe been its a compass as to wherevwe are headed. Cheers

Yep that’s the one. Very nice👍🏻

1924 no F variety. I only have a couple of variety buffalo nickels as varieties do not interest me.
Joe-
Your "No F' 1924 is also a minor doubled die reverse, best seen on the elongated dot between "UNITED" and "STATES" and as thickness at the tops of the letters of "UNITED."

Thank you for information Ron. This coin just got a bit more interesting.

Well, a very impressive herd here!
Many of the worlds finest specimens! Without a doubt!
Here’s some of my guys. This Dansco set is a work in progress.
Just some quick and dirty pics since I’m still adjusting to a move and retirement.
My herd has got a bunchof scraggly pages and rolls too. Not the most glamorous specimens, but a lot of variety and wildness in my modest herd. On the photos of the reverse pages-the die inversion result in the first coins being at the bottom of the photo. The 1013 being in the very bottom right corner.

1926 D. Nowhere near unc but a better strike than seen on most. Decent feathers and good horn. It will fit into a VF/XF collection with no problem.
I also picked up this 1938 D. The pictures do not do it justice.

On the '26-D it's most often totally worn out dies, like this one, that does it in. They do come worse than this one. You basically get the same effect with a badly worn die as you would with an extremely weak strike.
I remember back in the early 1960's going with my Grandparents to visit my Grandfathers sister. She lived about 20 miles away and ran a dress shop. A couple of my cousins lived in the town and they also collected coins. They came over to the shop also. Their Grandfather was the Cashier of the local bank that was 2 or 3 doors down the street. My cousins went to the bank and brought back a $200 bag of Nickels for us to look through. We climbed up on a wooden counter and opened the bag and started looking for coins that we needed. Their were lots of Buffalos in the bag. Those were the days!

I own all of the Philadelphia-mint Buffalos (the 1913 Type 1 only) - plus the 1931-S and 1938-D - and all in grades ranging from F to XF.
The problem with "survival of the fittest" is that it sounds totally awesome - so long as it is someone else's survival that is at stake

Trust me when I say it was MUCH easier just 10 years ago. Now it gets tougher every year.

A few more members of the herd-first year and last year-
Those are some nice first years and last years!
Love that '13-D Var 1! That's a nice example of a fully struck Buff!
My 1936 DDO-001, the strongest Class VI doubled die in the series, best seen as extra thickness and distortion on "LIBERTY" and the date-
I call that hammered! Sweet specimens!

Picked this 26 s up today way below grey... like $40 less

This 1913 D type 1 was a good buy under $25.
