I was offered this coin. I am known as the guy who loves toned gold, so I appreciate that the seller reached out to me. I was interested, though it was a lot "brighter" and "splotchier" toning that I am used to seeing on them. However, I could not buy it. It is a MS60, and was priced over $5,000. I sort of hope the seller gets full asking... that will mean my toned collection is worth a lot more than I paid, lol.

Agreed. as much as I am guilty for lusting over this coin, i believe its one of those coins where at a coin show, all the professionals will tell you its completely AT and wouldnt even buy it at price guide if offered. I think it would be very hard to sell for that kind of money. For 700 or so it would probably sell in a heart beat. Infact John and I would most definately strike if that were the case. I just think that although its beautiful, its bad news.
I will add that @jwitten showed me a video and the coin does look like that in hand. I do not believe these photos are enhanced at all. Its a wild as hell coin. I'd love to have it but not at a price that would screw me in the long run. And I defiantly enjoy paying a premium for nice coins if the coin makes me happy. Im not against that.
To me, that is atrocious. What a shame, someone really messed up nice gold.... If it were given to me (I would never buy such an abomination), I would immediately dip it. Gold does not tarnish (yes, the added copper can), and that coin is no different - IMO - than a colorized ASE. Cheers, RickO
Owner states its sold on IG. Lot of AT stuff being sold there. Also saw a video of Witter saying he’s done with IG. Too time consuming and too much work. Focusing on his shop in SF.

I think that was his April Fool's joke.
As far as the gold, I'm skeptical of the coin. There are some AT coins and juiced photos, but there are plenty of good coins posted too.

Same coin was offered on ebay for $595 at the beginning of the week, sounds like someone may have done quite well on a quick flip.
Have a link? I'm not seeing any recent sales of it. I would have been a buyer at that price.
It’s a weird one, I think it came up on Sunday and I’m kicking myself for not pulling the trigger, but it was reflecting as out of stock instead of sold until today and I don’t see it in general search. I had it on my watch list and here is what is shows in the app.

It looks to have a wicked staple scratch on the back too.
The pictures and video I received of it looked better, really. These pictures are washed out and the small scratch really pops. I didn’t even see it in the other pics. I think it sold for way too much personally. I’d be interested in knowing who got it.
I saw that on IG and burst out laughing. I wont judge anyone who wants to own that but man i hope they dont fool themselves into the “its straight graded!!!” line of thinking.
I would have bought it off this image. I also have a feeling that’s fairly accurate. I did see
the Instagram video and pics. Those still look enhanced to me. This picture does not look messed with.

I don’t care what NGC says that QE is AT all the way to hell and back. I suppose gas was introduced to the slab to make it look that color. Not pretty either.

I liker her, but she's got to be AT.

Straight graded in old NGC fatty.

Cooked to perfection.
I like toned gold, but something about that one bothers me.
I see toned gold occasionally, but this one looks VERY unnatural to me.

I find the color on this one to be very "odd" indeed. The closest one I've owned to the OP was this quarter eagle graded 64 by PCGS.

It’s a little too much $$ and a little too much toning for me. I also think it’s over saturated

Saw that one on Instagram. While eye catching, I do have my doubts. Maybe that's why it got a 60 back in the day?

That's the first one I seen toned like that.
I speculate that type of accelerated toning is difficult to accomplish.
So in that sense it is scarce.

Here’s the perfect holder for that baked coin 🌞

Turned in the holder from pre slab doctoring would be my guess.
Get a sticker on it (unlikely), and THEY will COME.
This one is in my toned set now!

Not my coin.
Well, "Striking" is an adjective, though not the one I'd use for this.

You didn’t miss anything.
Toned in a TBN with a side of magic mushrooms?
Gold is chemically inert. The portion of copper in the alloy can tone, but not generally like that. Something was added to the surface, IMO.
Two thumbs down... AT without a doubt in my opinion.
you know how to pick em
