Score for the $20 Large Cent set. 1848 Tall Date!

This makes all 3 for the $20 LC set small, Medium and Tall
Comparison pic included A few hours early, but I'm counting it as April as it won't be in hand for a week or so

That is a neat way to put together a set, I don't know that I've heard of someone doing that before. Does every coin have to be under $20, or do you allow yourself to average (you buy one for $15, so now you could buy one for $25)? Good luck on the set!

In the case of this set is actualy under $30.. ie in the twenties... the averaged out price per coin at the moment is at $16.50 each the highest was $27 (the 1857) and the lowest only $6.50 but generaly I only go over $20 for exceptional or rare/hard to come by coins. (the 56 was one of those it cost me $23 but the darn thing is near MS.. the current set can be seen here (just fully updated last week but already 2 more plus this one to be added lol)

This coin (the 46 tall date above) might actualy lower that average a bit...

Nice set! I'm very surprised at the overall quality you're getting for ~$20 per coin.

Honestly... it's a matter of watching 2-300 auctions over 5-6 site per week to catch the 1-2 that might slip in the $20 range. Usualy due to being mislabeled, poor pictures, sellers that don't know what they selling and more then once dealer friends keeping an eye on my wishlist
(the 1798 came to me that way) I have little doubt most of the coins in the present set would fetch $50+ each at auction, not all but quite a few
