PSA cards which they do not grade

Is there a list on the website stating which cards PSA will not grade? For example, I know they do not grade star court basketball cards. If the card is unlicensed does PSA grade it?

I think the easiest way is to search for the card itself. If they grade it, you’ll need the ‘correct name’ when searching.

If they don’t grade it, you can submit information in an effort to get them to grade it, including directly through the PSA website.

You can also ask PSA directly. I think on the website under their resources there’s a link where you can find out if they grade a card, and send them exemplars so they can research it. And they respond pretty quick.

They don't grade unlicensed cards which I personally think they should! Label it as Unlicensed and or change they label color?

It has the Players Association just not MLB's. They can't show any MLB logos.

  • I sent PSA a star court Michael Jordan basketball card and didn't realize PSA doesn't grade these cards and now its been over 5 months and PSA still has my card even though they will not grade it.

Frustrating because I probably wont get my card back for another couple of months based on PSA response. Turn around time of 7 to 8 months or longer for a card PSA will not grade. Is this normal procedure for PSA to hold the card for this long?

Well, if you sent it in as part of the bulk value order, then it can't be returned until the whole order is graded. I imagine it still gets a sticker on the cardsaver that says do not grade, so it still goes through all the steps with the rest of the submission. Besides, it's increased in value during its vacation.

don't fret just yet. w/ one of the new owners in place being a very big fan of star and the timeframe we are talking, things could very well change...

  • I only submitted one card to PSA so no other cards are holding up the return of my card.

Then they probably sent it back to someone else.. I'm assuming you reached out to PSA to ask where is it.... right? It should have been shipped back not long after it got the No Grade notation.

oh wow! have you tried calling or at least getting in the queue?

zero reason you shouldn't have it back by now.

  • I have been unable to get in the queue and speak to a live person. PSA is a blackhole in terms of customer service. I have been unable to reach anybody by email or phone. Not sure how to proceed.

I know. which is why I said Panini is unlicensed but they grade them. MLBPA doesnt mean squat in terms of cards. I know they dont show logos. I think the OP's idea of unlicensed is not the same as ours.

Are you telling me that you've sent an email(s) to info@psacard.com and have not had a response. I think everything gets an auto reply and is logged per se so that it goes in an action item queue to be addressed. I always get replies in 2-4 days. After 30 days I'd be blowing them up, let alone half a year. That's just nuts.
