An Introduction.. Of myself and of the $20 Large cent set

Hello Everyone and thank you for having me... Many of you may know me already from several other coin groups online. I have recently been pressured to come join in with you guys as well. While I collect in almost all US coin catagories, my 1st love is old copper so as an introduction I would like to put forward the $20 large cent set...
This set is built of coins all obtained in the $20 range. I won't say under 20 as few did come in a little over and some much under (cheapest was $6.50 highest was $27 average cost is now at $16.50)... but the great majority in the 15-20 range. I have specificaly built this set to show that you can build a very nice set of coins on a budget that won't break the bank... Are these mint condition coins? hell no, but they are not culls either (though the 2 you see in slabs (1818/1849) are both "detail" coins) These coins are all the "best" i could find/buy or "snipe" in the $20 range. I think this set will even surprise many that coins of this quality can be had for such low prices... but knowing what to look for and more then the seller is always the key to a bargan.
I hope you enjoy this set and I look forward to any comments
for now the album is stored at CT, possibly to be moved in the near future...

Decent coins! And welcome! I have a set of Braided Hair half cents but the cost of those was a little over $20/coin. All are XF45 or better.
I cut my chops are a few rolls just like that back in the 80s. Seeded my love for the hobby ever since. Cool stuff

Early copper can certainly be addicting. Here’s a snapshot of the raw half my hoard:

Welcome to the forum. Congratulations and thanks for sharing. Amazing collection for the price paid. This gives quite a bit of promise to newby's who are afraid they could never afford to enjoy collecting such a group of coins as yours. It would be interesting to know exactly when you started the collection.

This, the 2nd attempt on the $20 started about Aug 2020... The 1st $20 lc set started in 2008 but due to major finacial issues (VA screwed me over, but 99% fixed now lol) most of my collection was sold off 2012 though a few of my favorite pieces I managed to keep (the 1857 in this set being one of those few) overall been collecting coins over 40yrs as it stands, I've replaced most of what I had to sell but will be years before I can replace some stuff...

Again, as I stated, this gives great hope to new collectors to the hobby. Maybe this will spur some to buy some coins instead of praising the parking lot finds.

Welcome aboard. That's a darn cool set. The large cent series is extremely interesting...some might even say ‘addicting’. Budget or not, you successfully picked out a lot of really nice examples.
Well done!
