I won't say as to overdate, but it will come back with a details grade, environmental damage.
Really?

The value of the RPD (1851 / inverted 1851 = "1281") is about 2x the regular variety across most grades:

Your coin might grade VG-details, due to the environmental damage as others have noted.
So it is probably not worth the slabbing cost, even if you are sure it is the RPD.
Thx for the link. Very interesting.
But if the OP is trying for a known variety attribution why not mention that and provide a picture?
I looked at the link and I don't see the same characteristics on the OP's coin.
Take good images, list on ebay for 10 day auction, and let the specialists fight over it.
If it is an overdate they will find it and it will reach its full potential.

I dont see enough in your photos to indicate that you have the 51/81.

It doesn't look like the 1851/81. Mine isn't very high grade but you can see traces of the inverted date clearly.
Either way that cent would not be worth grading.
Lance.
Mine is a lower grade. Fun coin.

The OP cent is environmentally damaged...but even so, when highly magnified on my computer, I do not see the overdate. Cheers, RickO
That's a very good start for a Large Cent date set.
