Fun roll find last night! Beyond just being an esoteric find I personally really love the patina and the various re-punching.
Any information about this token would be enjoyed and appreciated. Thanks for the opportunity to share!

I don’t know anything about the token but that would be a fun thing to find!

It was cool because it's a little larger than a cent and I could see and feel it in the paper wrapper. I suspected it was a nickel but was wondering why it wasn't tighter in the wrapper. It was a really fun surprise to see what it is.
It's called a civil war token. Not one that I have in my collection, though there are many collectors on these boards that have fantastic collections and could no doubt tell you much more about this specific type. Nice roll find! Was it in an Indian cent roll or wheatie roll?
Outstanding token and outstanding image.
Several varieties, IIRC. But they're all somewhat valuable--especially compared to your cost!
See Fuld 255 to start. I'm sure our civil war token specialists will chime in with the exact version.

Thanks! It was in a roll of cents from my bank....just a plain 'ol roll of (expected to be) circulating memorials.
Congratulations on your find. Very unusual indeed.
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome find, dude. That's one pick for the ages! Maybe, worth sending in to have graded? After you check the value.
Welcome to the forum.
I did some research for you. Your particular coin looks as if it's the 1863 with a very good grade, XF? Ebay shows some of yours near $100.

First, great pull, one of the better penny roll pulls I've seen.
Second, excellent pics.

Thank you all for the kind words and compliments, especially about the images! It's really fun to have a place to share. Thanks to PCGS for providing a place to do so! What a great feature.
Second (but not by much) to the amazing fun of finding this esoteric item in a roll is the amazing natural copper patina it possesses. Now I want to start collecting tokens, lol! I was super excited to find it and equally excited to photograph it! Then...having a place to share....man, life is good!
One place I'm quite passionate about and active in within numismatics is the pursuit of superb image accuracy. I become quite disappointed when I see coins for sale (especially with the big boys) and the images of the same coin are so different and often obviously "massaged". Sometimes it's just a guess which image (if any) is accurate. Do others here ever feel this way...or is it just me? Maybe I'll post an example or two of what I mean.
Worse (for me anyway) is when I receive an item I purchased and it looks nothing like any of the images, and it's happened quite often. It makes me very sad...and reluctant to buy again. This has motivated me to be proactive and pursue the goal of truly accurate imaging. A great byproduct has been that the more educated I become the easier it is to identify exactly what's been done (editing) to an image and have a good feel for what the item looks like in hand.
Anyway, as an aspiring "accurate" numismatic photographer the ability to share and the compliments here are genuinely appreciated!
Thanks again!!!
That's a spectacular roll find. Thank you for sharing it.

One of the best roll finds ever!
Pretty!
U.S. Type Set
This has to be one of the coolest roll finds I've seen posted here.
This is a token struck by William Bridgens of NYC.
If you look under the Knickerbocker you will see his name. This is one of the most common tokens struck during the American Civil War, but obviously uncommon to find in a roll 150 years later! Nice condition as well.
Attribution is 255/390a, rarity-1. Probably worth $50 or so, so not worth paying the grading fees unless it is to commemorate your find.
Congrats! I hope it sparks an interest in you to study this important niche of our hobby.
