I think the mint is going to throw us a lot of good opportunities this year

In addition to Type I and Type II reverse gold eagles of different flavors, the silver eagles will offer plenty of options.

Posted this 2021 ASE summation in another thread that has since gone its way. The 2 coin reverse proof set was on the schedule then (March 6). 2021 is going to be a busy year for ASE collectors:

Currently four 2021 Type I (old reverse) ASEs available with no others planned:

    • W proof (sold out)
    • Bullion coins struck at West Point no mint mark (TPGs giving some of these a (W) label)
    • (P) bullion coins struck at Philly no mint mark
    • (S) bullion coins struck at San Franny no mint mark

2021 new reverse (Type II) will be the new look "summer 2021" according to the mint. I'm assuming scheduled releases with a date of "summer 2021" or later will bear the Type II reverse. The following Type II ASEs may or may not be included in more than one purchase option. These include:

    • Bullion coins that continue to be struck at West Point
    • A possible continuation of the (P) and (S) bullion coins once the new reverse is released
    • Another W proof scheduled to be released "summer 2021."
    • The 21XJ S & W reverse proof 2 coin set to be released "summer 2021."
    • An S proof scheduled to be released "summer 2021."
    • W unc. collector coin scheduled to be released "summer 2021." No indication this coin will be issued with Type I reverse.

Assuming coins released "summer 2021" will have the Type II reverse we are seeing a current release of four different Type I ASEs and will see a future 2021 release of at least six different Type II ASEs. A continuation of the (P) and/or (S) bullion ASEs will increase the number of different Type II ASEs. By year end we will have at least ten different 2021 ASEs.

The remaining question is "what is the actual date of "summer 2021, the release date of the new Type II reverse?"

"Interest rates, the price of money, are the most important market. And, perversely, they’re the market that’s most manipulated by the Fed." - Doug Casey

Just a prediction: the two-reverse proof set will be this year’s low mintage, wailing and gnashing of teeth flipper’s delight.

Everybody get your umbrellas out because the bottom feeding seagulls will be in force and taking dumps on everyone and then bragging as you wipe it off your shirt

LOL. There's no guarantee I buy any of them. Some of these will likely have unlimited mintages. Part of what is driving the Type I limits is the need to change over to the new style. Once they start doing the new coins, they need not change over until the year ends.

I will get one of the new ASE W coins.... Maybe another, I have no idea what other offerings will actually materialize. I did get the 2021W ASE proof when offered... Got lucky that day. Cheers, RickO

Hopefully the Type 2 mintage isn't too bad -- with it being the start of a new series having the mintage too low for anything will drive down the total number of collectors that are interested in continuing to collect ASE (if you've been a Type 1 collector and cannot continue in the first year of Type 2 it seems like it would push you off the edge). Better to start high and lock-in as many collectors as possible. Thoughts? (I know.... its the mint we are talking about here.... but still)
