We have an annual 'Garlic Festival' here (except for last year), and there is a booth with coin jewelry. He does coin cutouts and repousse'. Two years ago, he had a Kennedy half and an Eisenhower dollar. Cheers, RickO
The earliest I have seen were made for a works fair around the turn of the last century. Either the 1893 World's Columbuan Exposition or the 1901 Pan Pacific Exposition.
Some years ago (late 70s/early 80s) someone came up with an original set of dies and struck some modern coins. I have one somewhere.

I want a Morgan or Peace Repousse.
The best repoussé I have ever seen is actually a Morgan on a Morgan -- a half length pop out of financier J.P. Morgan on a Morgan $. The identification in unmistakable & it's the only example I've ever seen. Unfortunately I've never seen an image of it posted anywhere Actually I just found this on the Newman Portal:

So can someone please explain how the heck are these made?
Two dies, one very detailed. The coin is put in between the dies. The less detailed (back) die pushes the coin into the detailed (front) die.

Here's a peace I have. This one is actually rotated 90 degrees from how they are normally done.
