CSNS show is cancelled.

I just saw that the 2021 CSNS Show in Schaumburg, Illinois, in April ,was cancelled this morning. That makes two years in a row. What a shame.

Sad. Have always looked for any reason to visit Chicago.

That is too bad... Not sure why they are cancelling... Lots of gun shows going on, some other coin shows have been reported....Seems with the proper precautions, these shows go well. Also, a few 'experts' (I use that term cautiously) have said the country should be mainly in the clear by April/May timeframe. Due to vaccinations and the millions who already had the virus.... Cheers, RickO

While I've defaulted to a very cautious position on all gatherings this past year, I think the evidence suggests that this could have happened. Rather than cancel perhaps rescheduling might have been the better option.

The problem seems to be the state of Illinois according to the news release by CSNS. Illinois has limited gatherings to 50 people regardless if the facility has 1000 square feet or 100,000 square feet.

I relayed this before. I have a friend who runs another show at the same venue. He said the state had taken over all the convention centers for the next year in Chicago except the big one by the airport for vaccination centers.

I agree. But we keep saying "next year" every year.

I would guess a number of dealers had no interest in setting up for 4-5 days and sitting in a room with active COVID positive people in attendance. Many dealers I buy from say they are not even thinking of attending shows until Fall (and may not take tables for some time after that).

I had hoped to be there in April. Was looking forward to visiting with a few dealers that I buy from.

Not so. As of about a month ago the bourse was 80% sold out. The problem is the state of Illinois as stated in the press release.

Actually, it's very easy to understand. Most of the major shows are scheduled in states that still have severe limitations on the size of gatherings - California, Illinois, and Maryland - which takes care of Long Beach, Central States, and Whitman Baltimore, for instance. That's also why ANA in Chicago in August is not promising. Since Florida is currently less restrictive, we'll see if Summer FUN has a chance.

Makes perfect sense if Illinois wants the site for covid shots.

That’s the only show I plan to attend. Big enough and close enough to be worthwhile. Maybe next year.

The Orlando Convention Center is currently being used as a vaccination site.

I couldn't fathom them being able to use all the floor space the Orange Co. Convention center has. I doubt they could get enough vaccine if they could.

To keep it Illinois related, it’s like the Cubs...after over 100 years, “next year” will finally be true! See you at the 2121 Central States show.

Good goal. The Spanish Flu lasted from February 1918 to April 1920 so I'm prepared for 1 more year.

Large shows ( 150 tables or more ) have happened in the past year in Missouri, Georgia and Tennessee. I attended all four of them. There were no problems at the shows. Shows can go on if the states or cities will let them.

Never been to Orlando so I don't know how big it is, but my son has been at Dover Speedway in Delaware for a week on a vaccination team. Over 3000 shots a day.

Every Gym/work out place I drive by in the good old state of Illinois has been absolutely packed since the start of the pandemic.
    What's up with that?
