Oops, I think PCGS made a mistake.

I saw this medal listed at Heritage last night. It seems clear that it isn't a 1945 issue, instead, it comes from the WWII Commemorative Set released by the mint in the 1990's: clearly larger than 36mm and with a raised rim. Hopefully PCGS sees this and contacts Heritage.

PCGS already fixed the mistake as it's no longer certified. I hope Heritage describes this properly and keeps the listing so I can buy it!

that's a good thing, Mark. when I first saw the listing I got really excited since anything past AU/low MS is exceptional. in reality, just finding an un-looped example is rare with probably less than 50 extant. upon opening the listing and seeing the images it was clear there was a mistake.

However, it does not say on the slab when it was made, just that it is a medal that celebrates WWII victory, so technically, the slab is not incorrect(?).
