1964 Roosie proof pointed 9

Will this variety ever become mainstream?

I see ANAC's slabs them...

Hate to go ATS route but my OCD demands it.

They were at one time a big deal back in the mid sixties, as was the round hairline and pointed hairline cent. I doubt that they'll ever be a big deal again but I do think they are worth differentiating, at least for the dime.

Hi, yeah a cool variety but under rated. Where one is really valuable and in demand would be when the 1964 proof set is still intact in the original cellophane pack from the yellow manila envelope. Here's the key. When the Kennedy is the "Accented Hair " along with the "pointed 9" Dime. Long ago, I myself had one. I sold it at a coin show for $80. They, surprisingly, are still out there waiting to be Cherrypicked. ;)

I have picked a couple AH Kennedy halves.

The pointed dimes are about $5 raw which is a nice.

Graded can net a few more dollars.

Once I get to a half dozen might send them into ANACS.

A cameo or dcam would be cool to land.

I have several '64 proof sets in the envelopes.... and - believe it or not - I have never checked for the pointed 9 dime. All I was interested in was the AH Kennedy (Russ and I competed for them at shows). I guess I should look at the sets again...might have a tiny treasure there. Cheers, RickO

Got any of those AHs left? Any raw ones?

@scooter25.... Yes... I have all the AH's I have acquired... A couple slabs, the rest raw. Cheers, RickO

There was a widely advertised 1964-D E PLURIDUS UNUM nickel back then. I faded away with time.

I had a 68 dcam pointed 9 dime. Could never get a premium for it so I sold it for what the normal one cost.
They tend to run with the proof sets with Accented Hair halves.

I only buy them raw if they are high grade and lots of frost.

Checked my two accented hair sets and they indeed have the pointed 9.

My not accented sets had the blunt 9.

They were a big deal in Coin World back in 1964-65.
