and not be as happy with your coins as you thought you were?
Knowing that I want to upgrade a few of my 2 centers I pulled them out last night, and yes I keep them in my humble abode.
Off the top of my pointed head I knew that I wanted to upgrade the 1868, 1869 and 1870 business strikes, along with the 1869 and 1873 open 3 proofs, so that's 5. After looking at all of them i'm up to about 8 or 10, and i'm talking MS65/proof65 coins (brown of course) that are all CAC stickered.
Anyone else look back at some of your high end coins and say....MEH?

I manage money. I earn money. I save money . I give away money. I collect money. I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
I have this feeling all the time. I’ve spent so much time on the hunt and then I feel “is that it!?” but then I remind myself that I’m quietly assembling the best and most desirable circulated type set out there right now and then I feel better.
Admittedly, as part of human nature, I'd be jealous of other forum members' coins from time to time....just like I'd be jealous of someone's waterfront estate, high end sports car, offshore boat, etc. There's always someone with more/bigger/better....But realize they all had to make choices and sacrifices too, and are they really happier at the end of the day?
I can buy practically any one coin I really want in the sense that I have the money to buy it. But I limit myself from buying many of these coins because I cannot actually afford it by my definition, unless I care to work longer or have a lower quality of life elsewhere. That's not a trade-off I will make.
As an example, a forum member profiled the 1756 Guatemala 1/2R they bought from Stacks on the world coin forum. I thought about competing for it (don't know I would have actually won it) but declined as I don't buy coins in this price range.
Practically all other coins which I infer others posting here would like to buy but are out of reach, I don't really want it and would not buy it even if money did not limit me. I'm just not interested and don't care about ever owning it. I'd still spend the money on something else if I had it if I spent it at all.
I rather buy authentic and pay much less for those types of coins I am just as happy than owning a mint state of the exact same coin. Sometimes happier I like the look better of lower grades.

Turned 66 today, maybe i'm just getting a little bit more fussy?
Belated Happy Birthday greetings. Hope you had a fun day.
Trying to find the middle path because my collection is pretty much low end and have only recently started acquiring slabbed ones to upgrade/rotate out existing coins. Certainly not quite happy because am not getting the bang for the buck with lower grades. Then again, the tougher part is to convince the wife as to why I should spend crazy monies for a higher grade coin.

It happens to me all the time, Ray ole buddy. I think it comes to all of us at one point in time or another.

Thanks for not bidding!
