FAKE 2011 gold American buffalo pcgs pf70

Hey

I have a 1oz gold buffalo in a PCGS case pf-70

I was just wondering if anybody from the community can confirm if it's real or fake

Post the discrepancies from a real 1 perhaps show pics if they have a real coin ( doesn't have to be
(pf-70)

I tried calling pcgs to see if any1 knew the weight of their cases and nobody knew

I don't have the time to send it in and wait for them to inspect

The case looks real from the pcgs site I believe its a gen 6.0

Any help would be greatly appreciated

TIA
Matt

Looks fake and a really bad one. The pimple on the eye shows the die was cast and trapped an air bubble.

horrible fake. Reverse is dead giveway. A sigma PM verifier will tell you if it's .9999 gold. If not it's plated. Most coins shops have one.

    Ebay purchase?

  • Yeah Ebay
the pic was slightly different then what what I received so red flags went off....

Ebay will back me tho so I wasn't too worried

Thanks everybody for looking into this :)

and the seller ID or ebay item number?

I'd start the claim and in the meantime visit a local shop to get confirmation that it is counterfeit.

WOW ... That's Looks like a really bad fake.

  • Already started the claim was also looking for coin experts to comment so I knew i wasnt crazy

So far the investigation is in my favor

I would file the claim as a SNAD (significantly not as described) and make sure ebay knows it is counterfeit. Should be able to get a quicker refund? I would not want to get into any further delays such as having to return the 'coin'.

So the PCGS slab and label are also fake?

Yes. A search of the PCGS number will show that the coin sold at a auction in HA which shows a different generation of holder with the large hologram on the back with no QR code. Surprisingly the barcode and QR code both scan to the correct number.

@Matt87 .... Welcome aboard....Wow.... Nasty fake.... Hope you get your money back. You should post the seller ID here, since they will likely try other scams....Cheers, RickO

The first four that jumped out at me. I always check reverses first, seem there is less attention to detail.

Seller actually sold a few of them

    https://www.ebay.com/sch/Coins-Paper-Money/11116/m.html?item=383878563867&nordt=true&nma=true&orig_cvip=true&si=pGaeuWosBLYSsG724KjeYN8IQxg%3D&LH_Complete=1&_ssn=hck9912

Here’s some pointers next time your buying from eBay.

The seller is registered in Sri Lanka but the item is being shipped from China. Anything China is a red flag . The seller also has a low feedback score with basically all being from buying. 1 feedback from selling which doesn’t involve coins.

    The biggest red flag:

    Second red flag:

Another red flag would be when the item description says "gold plated"

I stopped reading at the second red flag. Description could have said "three free gold buffalos with this purchase"
and I would have still moved on.
