Can I do a "GoFundMe" to cover grading submission fees...

I think I would need about $30-40K to get all my raw stuff graded and since you can do one for having Gorilla Glue removed from your hair just wondering?
Since I am really terrible at paying to get things graded with my own money
I take things to shows to get graded and always come back home with it all just ending up spending the submission fees on even more raw coins, medals, and tokens
So I feel my problem might be worse than glue in your hair?

Sure I'll donate my $.02.

People do it for sillier reasons, so maybe it’s worth a shot...

Right... I'll have to give this some further thought!
She ran out of hair spray so she used Gorilla Glue in spray form to hold her hair in place. Apparently it worked too well. She is now suing the company.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
She had a surgeon donate a $12.5K glue removal procedure, but is also starting to hover over $20K in her GoFundMe.

@Broadstruck ... Your GoFundMe would be far more palatable than contributing to pure stupidity - which is what that person demonstrated. However, it seems abject stupidity is what attracts attention in these strange times. Good luck, Cheers, RickO
Thanks as at $40K I can get everything Tru-View'd
So you y'all would get to see far cooler stuff than just a bald head
I really wish PCGS would reconsider the extremely high fees for certifying tokens and medals. They have to be graded as "special issues" like patterns and that costs $$$.

"Coin collecting for outcasts..."
send them all to GreatCollections ... they can grade and send check after they sell
For about $18K I can get my clipped Lincoln cents into Mint Error holders, not bad for a set that cost maybe a tenth of that to assemble raw.

I have no desire to sell...
However would consider addressing Ian as "Uncle Ian" if he's willing to just cover my grading fees?
No desire to sell? Then why grade them?
Protection, conservation, pedigree/provenance, registry ... people have lots of reasons to spend their money on plastic. 40+ million coins prove that.

The submission fees? It's the return shipping costs that are the real killer.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
That's why it's better to have a dealer do it for you.
They have private insurance, which is MUCH more cost-effective.

Just don’t ask people to send you their extra coin flips so you can use them to send the coins in. Remember that guy who asked that several years ago. Something like he decided he was going to start his own coin dealership and people were giving him all kinds of advice and then he said he was so broke he couldn’t afford flips. It doesn’t sound as bad when I just wrote that, but I remember everyone flamed him for months afterwards.

I cannot get over how people abuse GoFundMe for garbage like gorilla gluing your hair. It really S/B for people needing real medical treatment etc. I have donated to kids undergoing chemo etc and have no problem with that. But gluing your hair - too bad the fool cannot be jailed for stupidity.
I’ll send you a quarter, you pay postage
I know. I saw one that was for a guy that needed a new car.
Maybe try getting a job? What a novel idea....

Maybe getting a car was necessary for the person to get a job. Many employers will not hire someone if they do not have a reliable way to get to and from work.

We seem to be in a backwards world where good behavior is discouraged and bad behavior is encouraged.
Depending on a variety of things and how they are presented the OP may have success in lobbying the public sector to create a program where persons who "qualify" can obtain public assistance to finance the expenses connected to grading coins.
However, before going down that path the OP should try a Go Fund Me campaign.
Take a bus or taxi, until you have enough money.
Besides, once you get a job, it is easy to get a car loan.

It costs me $12 plus tip to take a taxi less than 3 miles to go to the hospital. Who could afford that kind of fare to go to work at a menial job every day? A "new" car? I think not.

Agree. Also, your coins can hitch a ride to the grading service along with the dealers coins and you can both share in the cost of shipping.
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
Of course and I realize this. I should have added a winky emoticon. Lots of token collector disdain the slab, though.
Precisely what I meant.

As long as your coins are worth more than the grading fee then you can grade them. You can sell some and keep some. I have about 200 minors that it is hard to sell high. I might have to wait for couple more years before I can send them to grade but by that time the grading fee might be higher.
Sending coin to PCGS to grade is a long term project. Last year I believe I spent over 10K in grading so I sold some coins to cover it. I still have two orders in PCGS and one order just shipped back today. I am waiting for more specials to send more to grade. No shipping fee is a good special that I can send over 100 coins
I'll give you $1,800.00 for the set now if that helps you towards the slabbing fees?
If my "Thank You" thread pans out I will pay for your grading.
I like buying raw and have no issues selling that way either.
The 2x2 flips storage method in boxes although space saving can be also be a pain in the arse. So sometimes I think slabs might be better, but honestly I don't think there is a perfect storage system in this hobby as they all have pros and cons.
If I get hit by a bus all the raw stuff is separated with instructions to go to 2 specific dealers that have customers that mostly only buy stuff that way.
Not if you shipped 500 coins at a time.
Two?! I thought I was the only one! 🤑
