Tidy House Morgan

I found this in my desk last night. Its an 81-S nicely toned but the obverse is darker. Im thinking worth more as is due to the packaging. Have you guys seen many of these? Dont remember where i got it to tell you the truth

I think those Tidy House dollars are neat items, some have attractive toning from the holder. As for premium... holder can give some but mostly dependent upon the attractiveness and grade of the coin. And... like with early silver proof sets... it is easy to swap out an attractive coin and replace with another.... so some may not be original.
They aren't rare so any premium will be small. The coin will be where the value is especially if the toning is attractive.
I like them, your dollar does not look original.
the Kennedy halves are nice as well...
Those promotional items are interesting, but of little numismatic premium - unless the particular coin happens to be a key coin.... Cheers, RickO
What makes you say that?
Cardboard holder is all bent up. This usually happens when someone removes the coin that is in the holder and replaces it with another. Love to see the front....I like the toning.

most (if not all) I have seen show obverse side Morgan on printing side
many are 1884 and New Orleans
I flipped the coin over to photograph the better side
Makes sense. Thanks
I had one of those for years and recently sold it in order to buy another Walker. Sold rather quickly. I think someone on this forum said years ago, that they didn't think it looked toned correctly, but it was the way it came to me.

My coin is actually not inserted in the cardboard but rather in a flip type holder attached to the cardboard
here is obverse. i know pic stinks but dont have time right now. Actually looks better in person
that obverse is a typical color seen in the cardboard holder, so could be original coin
the owner of Tidy House Soaps was a coin collector and if you do a search, you can find stories about him and his silver hard money ideas
I had several of the "Tidy House Coins". They were all '84's. Different mintmark
I like them and have watching ebay for one to come up for a reasonable price. I missed a couple last month cause I didn't put them on watch list. The buy it now have crazy prices and I'm just not that guy. Also hard to tell if original

On Ebay even the ugly ones go for decent money - a $40 Ok-looking target toned Morgan might go for $70 to $80 in a Tidy House holder.
Lots of helpful responses. Thanks everyone!
A friend had one of these that brought huge money:

Any idea how these got toned?
“Any idea how these got toned?”
From sulphides in the cheap cardboard. Part of the process for creating paper and cardboard involves soaking wood pulp in sulfuric acid. The less refining afterwards the more residual sulfur compounds left in the finished paper or cardboard.
