The Hawaii 5-O specimen of the 1913 Liberty Nickel sold on Ebay for $1,000

Wonder if they buyer will notice the "COPY" in the coin?
These were given away by Blanchard. Happen to have one myself.

@dbldie55 Wonder if they buyer will notice the "COPY" in the coin?
I didn't see "COPY" on the auction coin. Unless under the mess at the top of the coin on the holder. Coin looks dangerously realistic to me.

I suspect that buyer will be getting a return.
Neat promo item, though.
COPY is stamped above CENTS on reverse, in letters bigger than CENTS. The only way to miss it in hand would be to not look at the coin.
Book 'em, Dan-o.
What is the under/over on how long before we see a newbie thread on how much its worth here?

Never a slave to one plastic brand will I ever be.
While the listing technically shows everything, it's certainly on the misleading side given that if you don't see a relatively hidden COPY, the listing pretends it's the real deal. Of course, at $1000 it's so underpriced you deserve what you get, but I wouldn't call the seller totally innocent here when a buyer goes after him.
Does "should I get this graded" count, or is that a separate bet?
The seller took the auction photos in his car so the coin must be legit. Classy. 🤦♂️

I truly looked for COPY and missed it. Unreal. My bad.

That's okay- if the buyer just looked at the small eBay image, I can see how it could be overlooked. And since eBay doesn't expect buyers to look at the pictures at all before bidding (I was told that by an eBay CS rep one time) , well...
Wait until you see my next post. lol

You're forgiven. I missed it the first time too.

I like our version better:
Must be @joeykoins
That’s got some funky toning for being in an interceptshield holder
You should send me one of those. Would go well in my collection.
The winner had a chance for it at $150 in December
With a sellers handle like "dontknowwhattocallit", how can you go wrong?

It may be reslabbed as 'the $1,000 lesson. Gotta love the creative 'copy' font!
That's nice strike to. FWIW or not
They may have thought it was a TV prop and rarer than it actually is.
You could run a really rare coin on ebay at auction and unless it has dozens of serious followers and everything else isn't done right it would go for a fraction of real value.
In this case of course the coin should not even be run; don't they have a section for fakes and reproductions?
I really hope someone did not pay $1000.00 for that piece.
