Very nice set.... I would not be able to lock those away for a year.... I like my coins to be within reach... or at least within a short walk in the house. Is the 1894 the start of a new set?? Cheers, RickO

Very nice! An interesting way to collect. What is it about the year 1909? How or why did you choose that particular year?
1899
I had a 1899 double eagle, in Ms 62 , way back in my infancy of coin collecting. I had sold every thing I owned, and bought a 20 dollar gold piece. That's where the idea started. So, I started picking up a few scattered MS 62 dates. I was going to enter the Registry mint set with gold. Well when I figured out what a daunting task that was for a fellow my age, with shallow pockets, I sold the 20 dollar piece. I did keep the scattered MS62 dates. However , my coin collecting was not focused. I had random coins , that were exceeding 6 PCGS boxes. It was about that time I read here, about the box of 20. I liked that idea. So I figured, I still loved coins, all kinds it would seem, by my 6 boxes. So I decided to just sell everything, and focus on a date set. Seeing how I had 3 or 4 1899 coins, that would be the chosen date. The set has some hard coins. I will up grade the 99-S dollar one day, lol. I want a 66.
It is the Bassteeler set. 1899 mint set.

You should do a double mint set. Have a complete set with the reverses on the front of the slab as well.
