Opening an old bank roll (hopefully?) of the 1964d Roosevelt Dimes. FINAL EVALUATION

Hi guy's, yes got another great deal from my favorite B+M shop. Only $100. The silver alone is nearly that price. An old roll of '64d dimes.

It most certainly appears to be old? Both enders are toned and has that aged look. Here are some more pictures.

Here's another good sign. Trying to peel the end open with my fingernail, it's giving me a hard time. They're really tight in the roll. A sign they have been in there awhile.

Continuing. Lol The suspense is killing me.
Still haven't opened them. Lol. Hold on, I'll be back...

BU rolls of 64s are bullion. Why would you expect to pay more?

Ok, I'm back! Finally got them opened. Lol. I know what you guys are thinking. "Why in the world is he doing this in his stupid car?" Your right. I know I shouldn't but I'm on my way to work. Can't wait to check these out. At least they don't appear damaged or rusted.

Could be a couple of neat GEMS inside. Really no downside, and it would be fun to open an original roll like this. The end roll toning is interesting too. Please get better photos of it when you're done! I would like to see it completely. Good luck with this roll! You can always get your money back (mostly) just in the silver alone.

Here's another. Not exactly a ms 70, but very nice.

I checked two for any variety. None yet.

Have to get to work. Feel like taking the day off. But I really can't. Lol

Yes, I know. But it's still a bullion roll.

After 6 coins, NO varieties. But found two with "die chips" in the same spot?

Good luck, Joey. I hope you can turn that stick of silver into a bunch of varieties and high end coins!
I bought some old unopened boxes and packs of baseball/basketball cards back in the day. It's a ton of fun opening stuff like this and seeing what hasn't been seen in a long time. The odds of getting a true gem might be slim, but you'll never know if you never look.
I also did the same with original proof sets from the 50s/60s. Lots of fun.

    Silver.

I'd expect they would be all white or with just subtle haze, but what the heck, it's still a roll of MS Roosevelts!

Other than maybe some RPM's, and the 5 similar die chips, this Shot gun roll of Rosey's are shootin' blanks. Lol.
I have about 14 more to check and maybe some better luck with my scope later. That's about it. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted. Looks like a loss of income from this all. Just a tad. It's alright.
    Strange, I found two 1963d's also? :*
    No varieties. :'(

I see the price of silver is up this morning. I have a feeling you'll be seeing a profit on that roll in no time!

Love those old rolls - These quarters have been rolled and sealed with tape since May 28, 1964

Back in 1977 I bought 2 rolls each of 1960-64 P&D dimes. A few decent
toners, not one good strike on the bands. Hope you have better luck.

Would you consider this a FB Designation? Thanks

Strange repeat die chips are one thing (a total of 5 dimes with the same die chip) and than something else? What in the world is to the right of the die chip, sitting in the other leave?

Ok guy's, here is the final evaluation. After examining each one. Unfortunately for me, NO varieties or RPM's. :'( Oh well.
Good side: All Silver. All great looking coins. Fun examining. Reading all your posts. A few toned. Esp. The two enders. Die chip in same area on 6 different coins. One had two on one coin. 8 "pointed 9's". 10 1963d's. Then finally, one coin looking in great condition. The best of the bunch. Here are some pics.

    Toner

    The two Enders

    The pointed 9's

    The die chip coins

    The 1963d's

    The Rest

I'll end up only keeping the enders, the toner and definitely this strange one.

then add some to complete the roll, than hold on, until Silver jumps higher. Thank you all, guys.

Sure nothing of any true significance (no varieties), BUT, I paid $100 for the roll ($2 per coin). Silver jumped since. Each dime in silver is now worth $2.10. I' m ahead! Cool. B)
I'll hold on for even a better silver price. ;)

I guess I'd be pretty upset if I bought something advertised as a BU solid date roll and ten of the coins were not that date/mm.

@TomB mentioned the die polish. A couple of these images would be perfect tools to instruct beginners on what die polish is and how to differentiate it from hairlines. The two I had in mind (see below) are both wonderful examples of showing how the polish lines are 'raised' and also that they stop at either a letter or device. You can clearly see the polish lines do not cross over the letter or device as a hairline would and actually appear to go under the letter or device. Great job with the images @JoeyCoins
