    Amazing.
That lower right corner could determine either a 6 or an 8.
I'm thinking it might be an optical illusion with the case.
Would two sharp lower corners make it a 9?

8 would be the best you could get imo, but that's nothing to sneeze at -- congrats

  • Thank you to all for your feedback! I’m going to send it in and I’ll let you know!

My take on the collecting boom these days, ruminating while shopping for an affordable PSA7 Mantle, an opportunity that slips away quite rapidly, with the values doubling over the course of a couple of weeks, is that it is not a bunch of new collectors but a bunch of rich collectors that see what pwcc and probstein do, and so they want a piece of it. I see it as a top down thing, and not any influx of hobbyists.

Maybe they will get frustrated that you cannot flip a 67 mantle like you can a house in the 2000 decade with the same replicability and profit margin. And if you can, it's kind of sad.

It’s insane. I can’t even trust comps now even if they’re within a couple days. I put up a raw 3rd year Brady subset (not insert - NON BASE SUBSET) card yesterday for $100 and it sold within a few hours. I keep thinking I’m putting insane prices on stuff only to have it sell within a day or 2, if not hours.

I don't know about single cards as I'm primarily a unopened collector these days. IMO the end of the pandemic won't make the unopened market blink. Up, Up, and AWAY!

I am so glad I bought my 1987 Fleer Jordan PSA 9 four year ago. I paid $500 then for it.

It's just insanity. All of it. Even a Black Lotus Magic the Gathering is over $300,000?

Michael Jordan 1986 Fleer PSA 9 $67,000? With a population of 2,762 and counting...?
My 86F Jordan PSA 9 is one of my favorite cards, but I'm so tempted to sell it. That's just crazy money

That’s the thing - guys now of decent disposable income age want that card. And they want a 9. There are way more than 2800 folks that want that - probably in the 50-70k range. That demand will keep the price up for some time, because if it drops to 20-25k, it’s getting jumped on.

Isn't the 'Buy it. But it now' subject line freaking anyone else out ?

    ?

Please tell me what 'But it now' means. I don't get it :) Is it like a diss to an auction that is NOT to be Buy It Now'd ? Normally I would not ' 'But it Now' anything. I have not ever thought I must 'but something now' Well maybe a couple times but... not ebay stuff.

My point was that it's time to stop thinking that it's going to stop soon and prices will revert back to "normal." We're in the process of transitioning to a new normal. Don't wait for that card you want to "come back down in price," it won't. People have been doing that for the last year and for the last year people have watched cards that they want for their PC get priced out of their budget. If you want something, purchase it now. Chances are greater that today's price will be tomorrow's bargain.

That's not me pumping, it's me surrendering to the new reality.

I remember people b!tching about prices in '13 and again in '16.
There was a cool off period after '16 but not a drastic downturn

Much better? In what way, exactly?

Photography? Sure. But the unprecedented importance of this issue - the most important basketball set of all time - in addition to capturing a very young MJ only adds to the allure of this issue.

If Brady wins the superbowl this sunday do his cards go to Jordan level ? So, 2000 Bowman for example ? THoughts ?

It's a perfect encapsulation of early-career MJ - the sheer arrogance he played with at such a young age.
