What happened to this bust half?

Found this unattributed 1827 O-123 on eBay. Pretty neat R4+/5- variety. Pictures weren’t that great but I could tell it was a 123. I received it today And noticed it has Some PMD on the wing to the left of RICA. Looks like there was another bust half underneath it and Something landed on it? Apologize for the average at best pics.

also looks like some contra-damage on obv between the head and stars 8-10? Or just toning.
I believe that to be the case.

Nice catch! Tough die marriage.
I don't know about reverse right wing. Hard to say from the pics (why shoot through a flip?). Might be something there.
The obverse would concern me more.
Lance.
No more flip.

Much better pictures (the second set)... Though I still cannot determine conclusively what happened there. Seems like some type of damage, but the shafts of the arrows are not damaged at all... Will wait for other inputs...Cheers, RickO
Looks like PMD, plus a cleaning

Yup it took a hit, although I still like it. Peace Roy

I’m sure at some point it was cleaned but it isn’t really apparent to the naked eye. It actually has a nice album toning throughout the obverse. Besides the variety it’s about the only thing it’s got going for it

as long as you like it.
I agree, many coins look better in hand that in pictures, esp my pictures, which suck

Meh. It’s pretty ugly LOL. Just an interesting coin I guess.
I’m in the same boat with pics. I need to buy a camera setup.

At some point in its circulation life it appears to have been placed between two rough surfaced objects which were then subjected to a hit from some other object. Strictly post mint damage.
