2017-S $1 Native American lamination error

Recently purchased a 225th Anniversary Enhanced Uncirculated Coin Set and found what appears to be a lamination error.
What is the Universes opinion on grading, keeping in Mint packaging, and lastly value?

wonder what others think. not the standard-looking strike-through.
that must be determined first to determine the other things.
I would say struck thru (possibly retained), not lamination.
Good close up pic but a shot of the whole coin might help with the eye appeal judgement.
Hard to tell from the photo, but it's possible
you're seeing a small piece of plastic laying
ON top of the coin when it was sealed.
Is there any underlying indentation under
the plastic, or is is just on top of the lettering?
Not saying it's not a S/T, but I can't tell for sure
from the one photo angle only.
I'm also thinking retained strike through
Here are some more pics

it looks like something on the coin
This.
Pretty much convinced it's a "struck through"
Any value?
Should I get it graded?
It is/was a retained struck through and the piece moved and I retained it see new pic.
Is there any more advice on what to do with this coin, normally I would just treat it as a struck through, but I have never seen this on a proof enhanced coin before.

You took the piece of foreign matter off the coin???
Yikes.
It was worth more being retained.
Now it just a strike thru
In hand it should have been possible to see if it was plastic struck into the coin or if it was just loose plastic laying on the holder or coin's surface. There was no reason to play with around with it.
What made it especially special is now lost.
Let's see a pic of the coin surface after the removal of the object.
It just looked like a glop of glue to me.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Here are the after pics...still very cool and maybe prophetic...

Too bad you removed the piece.... Great pictures though. Cheers, RickO
I wonder if PCGS would put the two separate pieces in a double holder.
It may actually be worth more that way
No, that small piece of 'plastic' would:
(I know, as this actually happened to me before)
My suggestion, if the owner wants it certified as an error;
send it in by itself, and put the small piece of struck plastic
in it's own 2x2 plastic flip, and attach it to the holder when
the coin comes back.
Strike throughs put me a bit on edge, I have an 1880-O Morgan that is a struck through grease, and it still had the grease on the coin and when I sent it into PCGS it came back altered surface, so I resubmitted it back to PCGS this time with conservation, and it came back without the grease and graded MS62 and Struck-Through Grease Obv (38561446).
I spent way more on the conservation and double grading than the coins 'book' value, but it was such a unique find, I couldn't resist.
I think error collecting is one of the niche numismatic areas that is hard to quantify, but is extremely exciting.
Thanks Fred.
Your term "vaporize " reminded me of this very funny movie ....
had the same thought looking at this photo - wouldn't it be incredible to have this holdered 😄
good lessons in this thread 👍
